SAP SRM - attachments and documents (E-nugget)

Any purchasing is not complete without electronic documents being exchanged (word, pdf, excel etc). SAP SRM offers options the documents to be saved on the SAP server or through the directory interface which can be managed on the DMS space.

Although SAP Netweaver provides the higher size attachment upload - this can be constrained by various factors. For example - Email exchange server IN/OUT, network capabilities and local system resources.
Growing documents may not necessarily burden the system response but may increase the data footprint.
As SAP SRM being consumed on various device formats (for example tablet, mobile, desktop) accessing attachments/documents may vary in the requirements.
Some organisation would like to customise this feature to incorporate engineering drawing, internal document sharing capability, masking the documents from certain user group.
